Patient Profile:

Bandi is an active mother and wife who injured herself at her daughter's birthday party while playing basketball. At first she thought her back pain would go away, but when she started having migraines, Brandi went to the emergency room and discovered she would need rehabilitative therapists before going home.

Post-Acute Need:

 Brandi was in need of physical and occupational therapy to help her get back to an active lifestyle quickly and safely after her hospitalization. She required a skilled nursing facility that could help treat her recent diagnosis of transverse myelitis, an inflammation of her spinal cord.

"When I began retaining fluid, becoming tired from walking very short distances and not being able to think clearly, I knew something was wrong and I contacted my doctor right away. My doctor ran a few tests and found that I and an atrial insufficiency and congestive heart failure. I ended up needing an atrial valve replacement and was hospitalized for six days.

I was too weak to go home after being in bed for almost a week, so I chose to go to MedBridge at Heartland at ProMedica for rehabilitation.
