Words of Appreciation for ManorCare Health Services - Arlington (1)
When the time comes that your loved-one must be placed in a facility due to failing health, you hope that there is someone who is looking over her/him. Someone who will communicate with the family regarding the patient’s progress and needs. Our family was fortunate to have been assigned to Melissa, social services coordinator at ManorCare Health Services - Arlington.
We live out of town. One evening, I called to determine our loved-one’s status, and I was connected to Melissa. When I heard her voice, I knew she was listening and wanted to understand. She went totally out of her way to be sure contacts were made, and the patient and family were satisfied. I did not have to whine or keep explaining – she knew exactly what was needed. It is very unique to find a person who is so determined to take the time to listen and connect to a caller.
Melissa is a true professional. In my career, I spent 22 years in administration working with parents, students and personnel. I always hoped to have more colleagues like her with whom to work. Sometimes, all it takes is a voice, a care level, experience and knowledge of resources that fit the situation, along with effective communication skills. But, it also takes time to follow up, so that the family hears from you again. When we finally met, her smile and warmness told the rest of the story. It was she who made us know that everything would be fine, because she would supervise the stay. And she did!
